Course Objectives: 
This course aims to provide students with thorough information about their role in the future as art and cultural managers in cultural institutions and various scales of art and cultural events. To teach students main features of art and cultural fields in Turkey and the way they operate; cultural policies implemented through decades; the role and responsibilities of art and cultural managers under these circumstances. To train students capable of evaluating existing conditions, developing fresh solutions, having vision to the predicaments they face.
Course Content: 

In this course history of cultural institutions in Turkey and the way they operate are taught starting its late Ottoman past, with strong emphasises on foundation years of the Republic and the recent decades. Underlying principles of today’s cultural policies, responsibilities of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, functions and activities of local authoritie
