Course Objectives: 
The students will learn to draw attention to the problems of the city, community or international masses by means of design or to find a solution. It is aimed to raise awareness through design, to be a problem solver or to draw attention to the problem. Students will also be able to comprehend their activities as a designer and develop graphic communication solutions by examining and discussing what is done in the world with national and international examples.
Course Content: 

In Design and Social Responsibility course, students work to find creative solutions to a global or local problem through design. The solution is designed to create awareness or design / change behavior. Students learn to design solutions for the local problems of the geography they live in, the community they live in, or the common problems of international audiences and the world. Social issues such as consumption, infectious diseases, environmental problems, gender, migration, literacy and education and violence are among the social problems in which the course focuses on raising awareness and seeking solutions through design.

Examination of creative techniques (tangible graphics, magazines)

 

Review of Blankposter.com - Poster design for weekly vocabulary (an experimental technique to be selected Thursday - 10%, midterm)

 
3 Examining Posterposter.org - Design for Poster Monday (free topic: a local or global current problem will be identified, researched, sketches will be made throughout the course, the message and technique for the selected sketch will be discussed, design will be started - 10%, midterm)

Next week, a foundation or an organization will be selected, research will be conducted, interviews will be made and information will be collected. There will be a 60% FINAL grade (30% rst + 30% design).

 
9 Epica: Public Interest Samples will be shown and explained.

 

Design will be made for the selected foundation or organization (brochure, flyer, poster, promotional material, social media advertisement, current issue / requirement and a graphic product will be selected.
